What I have done before

I used to manage Southeast Asia's engineering team as the Director of Engineering. My team developed and maintained Yahoo web sites and services for Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. I was also the Head of Yahoo Developer Network for Southeast Asia and drove developer related activities in the region, traveling and speaking at various developer community events around the region.
Before Yahoo! I managed a global software development centre for Real-time, the global card marketing/payment software provider, developing solutions for top international consumer banks. The development centre provided project delivery and product engineering functions, with split locations in Singapore and France. During my tenure, I built the team from 13 engineers to a peak strength of 64 engineers in Singapore and France, with outsourcing partnerships in India and Vietnam. I implemented numerous quality improvement processes and achieved CMMI Level 3 for the team.
Prior to Welcome Real-time, I co-founded , an e-business solutions specialist, with funding from Singapore Technologies Telemedia, an investment group that also invested in StarHub, Global Crossings and Equinix. In my role as Chief Architect and VP of Product Engineering, I invented and developed a groundbreaking portal application framework that eventually became elipva's core product. This product have since been sold and used by many local/foreign enterprises including UOB Bank, Prudential, Great Eastern Life, Seiko-Epson and Shering-Plough. It received funding from a government (IDA) development innovation grant in 2001.
I published a book titled Ruby on Rails Web Mashup Projects in 2008. I was a frequent contributor to technical journals including Javaworld, Dr. Dobb's Journal, Java Report and Computer Times. I am also an active developer and contributor to many open source projects. I'm a technology enthusiast with links to various grassroot developer groups in Singapore. In particular I organize regular Singapore Ruby Brigade meet-ups and I also co-organized Geekcamp Singapore 2009.
My first degree was in Computer Engineering from the Nanyang Technological University. I have a Masters in Commercial Law from the University of Derby and a Graduate Certificate in International Arbitration from the National University of Singapore. I am also a certified arbitrator in Singapore.
